Abstract

Packaging provides the visual communication between the consumer and the manufacturer. Packaging design should be able to both influence and guide the consumer when making a purchase decision. In the historical process, various materials such as glass, paper, metal and plastic were used for packaging. Color, typography, shape and visual images are the main factors that affect the consumer. Packaging uses these elements to tell the consumer their story. Particularly the front of the packaging is the main character of the story. However, the other side of the package, called the back panel, contains details of the story and is often overlooked. In this study, the importance of neglected back panel design was investigated. As a result of the study using qualitative research methods, it was seen that the back panel design combined with the front side design. In addition, it has been concluded that it has very important effects in informing and directing the consumer.
