Özet

Koleksiyon yaratma tutkusu Antik Yunan'a kadar uzanmaktadır.

Abstract

The Passion of collecting goes back to the Ancient Greece. Gathering and preserving the collected objects have paved the way for the emergence of the museum which is known as the oldest exhibition space. The transformation of cabinet of curiosities and royal collections into museums in time and opening these places to the public determined the exhibition style.curatorial works from past to present. How were the exhibition practices in the 18th and 19th centuries? What is the content of the comprehensive exhibitions like art fairs, biennial and Documenta, and in what conditions does it develop? How do the aim and methods of world exhibitions reflect on the exhibition style? How did the ideology of art galleries which evolved from museums affect the exhibitions in the 20th century (with the examples of such exhibitions of some artists like Duchamp, Beuys, Oldenburg and Spoerri)? How did the exhibition styles change with the search for alternative spaces by curators like Szeemann and Obrist in 1970s and 1980s? The changing perceptions of art in time are discussed through exhibitions around these questions in this article.
