Özet

Orijinal adı “Chambres d’Amis” olan “Arkadaşların Odaları” adlı sergi, 1986 tarihinde Ghent şehrinde gerçekleşir. Küratörlüğünü Jan Hoet’in yaptığı bu sergi, Ghent Çağdaş Sanatlar Müzesinin bir etkinliğidir. Serginin önemi, sanatı özel evlere taşıyarak müze binasının sınırlarını aşmasındadır. Bu “olay”, beyaz küp fenomenine karşı bir tepkidir. Şehirde yaşayan halka ait 58 ev, eserleri ayrı boyuta taşır. “Arkadaşların Odaları”, her anlamda, sanat ve şehir arasındaki ilişkidir. Müze, şehre yayıldığı her yerden görülecektir. “Arkadaşların Odaları”, sergilenen eserlerin mekana-özgü karakterine vurgu yapmaktaydı. Eserler her anlamda sergilendikleri çevreyle bir diyaloga girmişti. “Arkadaşların Odaları”, her sanat ve şehir arasındaki ilişkiydi. Bu açıdan sanat, toplumu yansıtma ve değiştirme yeteneğine sahiptir.

Abstract

Originally “Chambres d’Amis” or the “Friends’ Rooms” is an art exhibition that realized 1986 in the city of Ghent. The exhibition was based on Museum of Contemporary Art, which was curated by Jan Hoet. The importance of the exhibition can be found in his concept of bringing art into private homes and thus leaving the boundaries of the museum building. This “event” came about as a reaction against the white-cube fenomene. 58 houses belonging to everyday townspeople, carrying the work outside the separate universe. “Friends’ Rooms” was all about the connection between art and the city. The museum will appear in all places where it is spread out in the city. “Friends’ Rooms” stressed the site-specific character of the works presented. The works explicitly entered into a dialogue with their environment. “Friends’ Rooms” was all about the connection between art and the city. In this perspective, art has the ability to mirror and change society.
