Abstract
As in all disciplines, scientific research is also a prerequisite for the development of poster art. The aim of this study is to examine some of the characteristics of the thesis studies carried out in post graduate education process. The method of this research is a descriptive study on the examination of all the thesis related to the posters in the Higher Education Institution (YÖK) thesis center by screening method. In the YÖK Thesis Center, 80% of the 125 graduate theses related to the posters were made after 2000. 88.8% of the theses are masters, 8.0% are arts proficiency and only 3.2% of them are doctoral dissertations. It was determined that thesis studies were conducted mostly on fine arts (82.4%), education (8.8%) and advertising (4.0%). 62.4% of all theses are by Institute of Social Sciences, 22.4% by Institute of Educational Sciences and 14.4% by Institute of Fine Arts; On the other hand, 83.2% of the theses were State and only 16.8% were made by Foundation Universities. The study of poster art, which is an important area of graphic design, in postgraduate studies with more scientific thesis studies will increase the quality of this field and its effect on society.
