THE PRESENCE OF WRITING as an ESTHETIC VALUE IN PLASTIC ART WORK FROM THE 20th CENTURY TO THE PRESENT

Özet

Plastik sanatlar alanına ilk olarak yazılı anıtlarla dahil olan yazı, 20. yüzyılın başında önce biçimsel (topografik) değeriyle kolaj ve assamblajlarda, ardından kavramsal sanatta kavramsal değeriyle sanat eserinin parçası olur. Yüzyıl başında Magritte ile gündeme getirilen yazının kavramsal boyutu ardından Kosuth’un dilbilimsel çözümlemeleriyle incelenerek sanat eserinde kullanılmıştır. Kosuth’un dilbilimsel çözümlemeleri günümüzde yazıyı kavramsal boyutuyla farklı biçimlerde eserlerine dahil eden sanatçıların önünü açmıştır. Bu makalede amaç yazının tarihsel süreçte plastik sanat eserindeki kullanım ve konumlandırılış nedenlerini göstergebilimsel çözümleme yapılarak analiz etmektir. Bununla beraber araştırmada 20. yüzyıl başında bölümlere ayrılıp, parçalanılarak sanat eserine dahil edilen yazının yapı söküme uğratılması (deconstruction), 21. yüzyılda ise yeniden inşası (reconstruction) ile üretilen çalışmalar üzerinden incelenmiştir.

Abstract

The writing, which was first included in the field of plastic art with the written monuments, has become a part of the work of art first in collages and assemblages with its formal value (topographic value) in the beginning of the 20th century and then with its conceptual value in the conceptual art. At the beginning of the century, the conceptual dimension of the writing brought to the agenda with Magritte and later was examined by Kosuth’s linguistic analysis and used in the work of art. The aim of this study is to determine the position and the reason of the writing in the history of plastic art through the use of semiotics. In addition, the deconstruction of the text which was included in the work of art at the beginning of the 20th century will be analyzed in the works of 21st century through reconstruction.
