Bu bağlamda, Kundera’nın kitsch kavramı tanımıyla Heidegger’in düşüncelerinin bağlantısından destek alınmıştır.

Abstract

Images produced about death in different eras of history reveal how metaphysics was spectated. Exploring the relationship of kitsch concept with death propounds a new perspective in dealing with kitsch. Contra to the images of death created in the history of culture, kitsch images of death is incapable of producing any connotation. In this article, the example of headstones designed in today’s Iran proves the effort to push the image of death as far as possible in modernizing societies. The strategy of this attitude is pulling off the image of death from the mythological or religious background and carrying it into the everydayness ground; in other words, the strategy is preferring realistic plastic language instead of symbolic one. The article, has asserted these works, which become independent from the craftmanship with the development of laser technology, constitute a kitsch example by connecting the kitsch concept with Heidegger’s concept of “Falling” which means “forgetting death”. Concordantly, support was drawn from the connection of Heidegger’s thoughts with Kundera’s description of kitsch. The piece aimed to explore the relationship between the concepts of kitsch, death, and image on the examples given by taking an existing circumstance into account.
