Abstract

The Correlation Between Axial Lenght of the Eye and Degree and Type of Deviation and Refraction 94 strabismic patients were evaluated for the correla¬tion between the axial length and type, degree of devia¬tion and the refraction data were analysed using Mann Whitney U and Chi-square test. Patients were divided in to the groups based on the type of strabismus, degree of deviation and refractions. Ocular axial lenghs, were measured by using a A mod Ultrasonography. The mean axial length in Infantile ET was 21.57 mm were as in Accomodative ET 22.05 mm, and in Nonac-comodative 21.75 mm. axial length did not correlate with type and degree of deviation (p>0.05). The mean axial length in intermittent XT were 22.95 mm and in basic XT 22.56 mm no correlation was found with the axial length and type and the degree ■ of the deviation. Axial' length measured on cases who bad under and over ±4.00 D refractive errors. The axial length of patients who had hypermetropia (+0.25 DM+4.00 D) was 22.07 mm, were on the axial length was 23.10 mm in myopia (-0.25D) - (-4.00 D) the dif¬ference was significant (p<0.01). Patient without alternating deviation in the axial length of right eye (RE) were 22.08 mm. of left eye (LE) were 22.17 mm. in right ET, which was 22.02 mm on RE and 21.82 mm on LE in left ET and the difference was not statistically significant (p<0.05). In right XT the mean axial length of RE were 23.59 mm, of LE were 22.33 mm in left XT the RE's were 22.98 mm the LE's were 22.89 mm where the diffe¬rence was not statistically significiant (p>0.05). There was no statistically significant correlation bet¬ween the axial length and type degree of deviation. In same age group but the relationship with the re¬fraction (+4.00 D) - (-4.00 D) was significant.
