Özellikle, optik nöropati hikayesi olmayanlarda PVER'in %72, renk görmenin %7, görme alanının %3 oranında patolojik bulunması, PVER'in subklinik optik nöropatileri ortaya koymadaki önemini göstermektedir.

Abstract

We compared the results of Pattern VER, visual field, color vision tests in 34 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosed in Neurology Department of GATA between November 1991-July 1993. Seventeen patients had not.The ratio of abnormal PVER test was higher in both patients with and without optic neuropathy than those of other tests. We found PVER abnormality in 24 eyes (%80), color vision abnormality in 20 eyes (%80), visual field abnormality in 20 eyes (%80) of 25 patients with optic neuropathy. In the eyes of patients without history of optic neuropathy, we found PVER abnormality in 31 of 43 eyes (%72), color vision abnormality in 3 of 43 eyes (%7), visual field abnormality than amplitute changes in the diagnosis of şubelinle optic neuropathies in MS. We concluded that PVER test is more useful in evaluation of optic nerve functions in MS than the other tests.
