Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışmada pterjium ile Herpes Simpleks Virüs (HSV) ve Human Papilloma Virüs (HPV), ilişkisini araştırmak, etiyopatogenez ve nüksteki rolünü tesbit etmek amaçlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Yirmiüç pterjium ve on normal konjonktiva dokusunda immünohistokimyasal yöntemle HPV ve HSV varlığı araştırıldı. Cerrahi yöntem olarak çıplak skiera yada konjonktiva oto greft yöntemi uygulandı. Bulgular: İmmünohistokimyasal incelemelerde HPV'nin pterjiumda, kontrol grubuna göre istatistiksel olarak önemli düzeyde müspet olduğu (p 0.05).Takip döneminde çıplak skiera yada konjonktiva oto greft yöntemiyle birlikte pterjium eksizyonu sonrası önemli komplikasyon tesbit etmedik. Sonuç: Pterjium etiyopatogenezinde HPV'nin önemli rol oynayabileceği, HSV'nin pterygium gelişiminin bir evresinde rol oynayabileceğini, tedavide özellikle nüks olgularda konjonktiva otogreft uygulanmasının etkin ve güvenilir bir tedavi seçeneği olarak göz önünde bulundurulması gerektiği sonucuna ulaşıldı.

Abstract

Purpose: In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between Herpes Simplex Virus and Human papillomavirus with pterygium, to determine the role in etiopathogenesis and recurrence. Material and Method: Immunohistochemical analysis were applied on twenty-three pterygium and ten normal conjunctiva tissues to determined existence of HPV and HSV. Pterygium excision with bare sciera or conjunctiva autograft vere performed as a surgical method. Results: In immunohistochemical studies, when pterygia were compared with controls; HPV was statistically significantly positive (p<0.001), however, HSV was not statistically significant (p>0.05). At the follow-up period of cases we did not observe any important complication after pterygium excision with bare sciera or autograft. Conclusion: HPV may play an important role in the etiopathogenesis of pterygium, HSV may effect a stage in the development of pterygium. And also we suggest that in the treatment of cases with pterygia especially with recurrences, autograft is an effective and reliable method.
