Abstract

Aim: To evaluate elevation maps of early keratoconic eyes and to compare them with nor- mal eyes. Material and Method: Eyes with keratoconus were divided into two groups according to topography. Group 1 included stage 1 keratoconus and group 2 included stage 2 keratoconus eyes. Normal eyes included as a control group. Elevation maps were captured by Scheimpflug camera system and were evaluated. Results: Statistically significant differences were noted in anterior and posterior keratom- etry, anterior and posterior astigmatism, anterior and posterior axis, anterior and posterior aspherisity, cornea thickness, cornea volume, and anterior chamber depth between stage 1 keratoconic eyes and control eyes (p<0,05). Anterior and posterior keratometry, astigmatism and aspherisity were statistically different between keratoconus groups (p<0,05). Conclusion: The shape of the cornea changes even at early stages of keratoconus. Posterior shape of cornea follows anterior cornea in this change. Anterior and posterior ker- atometry, astigmatism and aspherisity increasing with severity of keratoconus.
