Using fiber reinforcement material for orthodontic retention of two anterior diastema cases

Özet

Diastema vakaları ortodontik olarak düzeltilmeleri sonrasında daimi pekiştirme tedavisi gerektiren durumlardır. Bu amaçla çeşitli yöntemler önerilmiştir. Bunlar arasında çok yüksek dayanıklılığa sahip polietUen fiberlerin kompozit rezin materyali ile birlikte kullanılarak yapılan pekiştirme tedavi yöntemi oldukça yenidir. Bu dokuma formunda bulunan polietUen fiber (Ribbond) materyalin yüzeyi elektrokimyasal işlemlerin uygulanmasıyla kompozit vezinlerle tam bir kimyasal bağlantı oluşturmakta ve retansiyonunu güçlendirmektedir. Bu fiber materyali nötral rengi nedeniyle iyi estetik özelliğe sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amacı anterior diastemalı iki vakanın ortodontik tedavileri sonrasında polietUen fiber ile güçlendirilmiş kompozit rezin materyali ile yapılan daimi pekiştirme tedavilerinin su-nulmasıdır.

Abstract

Diastema cases require permanent retention of the orthodontic correction. Various, retention methods are suggested for this purpose. Among these ultrahigh-modulus polyethylene fibers used with composite resin material for retention is a new method. This woven polyethylene fiber (Ribbond) is electrochemically treated to make its surface chemically reactive to the composite resins causing it to become trully integral, reinforcing member of the retention. It retains esthetic qualities because of the neutrality of the color of the reinforcing material. The aim of this study is to present two cases of anterior diastema corrected orthodontic ally and the permanent retention made with polyethylene fiber reinforced with composite resin material.
