Chromosome numbers and karyotype analysis of Centaurea tchihatcheffii Fisch. et Mey, (Compositae, Cardueae)

Özet
Centaurea tchihatcheffii Fisch. et Mey. Türkiye'de 180 türle temsil edilen Centaurea cinsinin bir türüdür. Yalnızca Ankara'nın Gölbaşı bölgesinde yetişen endemik bir türdür. C. tchihatcheffii 'nin kromozom sayılan ve karyotip analizi ilk kez bu çalışmada verilmiştir. C. tchihatcheffii 'nin incelenen bütün hücrelerinde diploid kromozom takımının 2n=20 olduğu bulunmuştur. Karyotipi son derece simetriktir; 9 çift hemen hemen metasentnk (nm) ve bir çift hemen hemen submetasentrik (nsm) kromozomdan oluşmaktadır.
Abstract
Centaurea tchihatcheffii Fisch. et Mey. is a species of genus Centaurea which compris-es about 180 species in Turkey. It is an endemic plant growing only in Gölbaşı district, which is located in Ankara. Chromosome counts and karyotype of C. tchihatcheffii are given for the first time. All investigated cells of C. tchihatcheffii are found to have diploid chro-mosome complement 2n=20. The karyotype is very symmetrical, consisting of 9 pairs of nearly metacentric (nm) and a pair nearly submetacentric (nsm) chromosomes.
