Özet

Ders kitapları, eğitim ve öğretim sürecinde en fazla kullanılan ders araçları olmalarının yanında günümüzde öğretmenler tarafından başvurulan en temel kaynakları oluşturmaktadır. Program hazırlayıcıları ve öğretmenler başta olmak üzere hemen hemen her kesim tarafından eleştiriye mazur kalan ders kitapları, öğretmen ve öğrencilerin gözünde öğretim programları dikkate alınmaksızın yegane rehber olarak algılanmakta ve bu özellikleriyle bir çok araştırmaya konu olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sosyal bilgiler ders kitapları sosyal bilgiler öğretmenlerinin görüşleri temelinde kritiğe tabi tutulmuş ve kitaplar fiziki yapı ve içerik olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Buna göre sosyal bilgiler ders kitapları, sosyal bilgiler öğretmenleri açısından fiziki yapı ve görsellik olarak yeterli görülürken içerikle ilgili üzerinde durulması gereken önemli noktaların bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir.

Abstract

Textbooks, which are the most used course materials during the teaching and learning process, are the fundamental sources being used by the teachers. In spite of drawing many critics from different sectors including program makers and teachers, the books are still the only guide for teachers and students regardless of teaching programs and are an important subject matter for many studies. In this study, the social studies textbooks were criticized based on social studies teachers’ opinions in terms of physical characteristics and content. Consequently, it was revealed that while teachers think that the physical characteristics and visual quality of textbooks are sufficient, there are some problems about content that need to be mitigated.
