Abstract
The study of the epidermal ridges of finger, palm and sole and the patterns formed by them is known as dermatoglyphics. Dermatoglyphic patterns of 35 male and 40 female, a total of 75 patients with β-Thalassemia major and their 42 male 56 female relatives who were β-Thalassemia minor for the trait a total of 98 individuals were compared with those of 250 male and 250 female, a total of control cases. On the fingertips of β-thalassemia major cases, ulnar loop types are more, and whorl type patterns, total ridge count for males and palmar IV loops are less. H loops and t triradii are more than those of the control cases. Also, palmar A lines on the palm is frequently terminated on regions 3 and 4. At the fingertips of parents with β-thalassemia minor, ulnar loops are less, whorl types are more, palmar III, H loops and t triradii are more, H loops and t triradii less than those of the control cases and palmar A lines on the palms were opening toward 4 the region.
