Enlarged ionization region and Wiley-McLaren type geometry

Abstract

The ionization region of the ToF mass spectrometer having the Wiley-McLaren geometry was further enlarged on the basis of the Milani-de Heer criteria. The enlarging limits the use of the spectrometer to small cluster range as a result of mass resolution decrease at great deal amount. However the spectrometer is promising for the electron-cluster interaction studies.
