Abstract
Objective: Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) is one of the most important pathogens causing invasive infectious diseases, especially in the first two years of life. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate Hib and other Haemophilus spp. bacteria isolated from children as a cause of invasive disease. Material and Methods: The rich medium and also Gram stain, Haemophilus influenzae poliantiserum ve Haemophilus influenzae type b antiserum was used for determination of Haemophilus influenza spp. Results: Four Hib strains were isolated from totally 43 (9.4%) cerebrospinal fluid and also seven Hib, five non Hib, six Haemophilus spp. were isolated from nasal, eye material and sputum. Conclusion: These results showed that Hib and other Haemophilus spp. infections are important for infants in our region.
