Abstract
OBJECTIVE: It was aimed to investigate whether fluoride contents of Şanlıurfa 's potable water are sufficient for children METHOD: Fluoride contents of total 25 samples of potable water obtained four main depots and 21 different districts in Şanlıurfa were measured using potansiometric method. Statistical analyze was performed using student-t test. RESULTS: Average fluoride contents of the potable water samples obtained depots and different districts were measured 0.1 ppm and 0.08 ppm, respectively. No difference was found in fluoride contents of two samples (p>0.05) CONCLUSION: Because of this results, Şanlıurfa was declared a fluoride-free region. We concluded that a fluoride supplement recommended to following first six months of life is necessary.
