Abstract

Most of the mothers feel fear, anxiety, excitement and anger in labor. Feelings like anxiety, excitement and anger results in secretion of adrenaline which cause vasoconstruction. Vasoconstruction results in hypoxia. Hypoxia has a negative effect on fetus. Studies show that mothers who have a birth companion in the labor have less complication and short pain duration. In our study 57 mothers who gave birth supported by nurse students, 57 not supported in the labor. Mother's labor period and diagnosis of fetal distress correlated between two groups. At the end, it was seen that between two groups duration of labor and diagnosis of fetal distress were not found statistically significant (P>0.05). But need for analgesics reduced in supported group and it was found statistically significant (P<0.05).
