İstanbul' da evlerde beslenen köpeklerde Toxocariosis canis

Özet
Bu çalışma Ocak-Kasım 2002 tarihleri arasında İstanbul'da evde beslenen köpeklerde Toxocara canis'in yaygınlığını belirlemek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma süresince 100 köpeğin dışkısı Fülleborn'un doymuş tuzlu su flotasyon metodu ile incelenmiştir. Enfekte bulunan dışkılarda McMaster yöntemi ile gram dışkıdaki yumurta sayıları da belirlenmiştir. İncelenen köpek dışkılarının %28'inde T. canis yumurtasına rastlanmıştır. Tüm yaş gruplarında T. canis yumurtalarına rastlanmış olup, en yüksek oran 1-3 aylık hayvanlarda tespit edilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar İstanbul'da evlerde beslenen köpeklerde saptanan T. canis enfeksiyon yaygınlığının, visceral larva migransa neden olarak, çocuk sağlığı için yüksek bir risk teşkil ettiğini göstermektedir.
Abstract
This study was carried out to determine prevalence of Toxocara canis in domestic dogs in Istanbul between January- December 2002. During this study, faecal samples of 100 dogs were examined by the Fulleborn's salt saturated flotation method. The amount of eggs per gram feces were counted using McMaster metod in infected feces. T. canis eggs were observed in 28% of the dog feces examined. T. canis was found in all the age groups although the highest rate was found in animals aged between 1 -3 months. Obtained results showed that existence of T. canis infection in domestic dogs in İstanbul may pose a high risk of visceral larva migrans in children.
