Çalışmamızda Weber’in otorite türleri çerçevesinde destan kahramanları incelenmiştir. Değerlendirmelerin merkezinde Oğuz Kağan bulunmaktadır. Destan kahramanlarının sahip olduğu otorite türü, bu otoritenin eski Türk idari sistemindeki durumu değerlendirilmiştir. Hiçbir edebî ürün, ortaya çıktığı toplumun tarihi, düşünüş ve inanış sistemlerinden kopuk değildir. Her ürün yaratıldığı, yaşatıldığı toplumun niteliklerini yansıtır. İnceleme sonucunda Türk epik destan kahramanlarının eski Türk toplumunun “geleneksel-karizmatik” niteliklerine sahip “kut”lu hükümdarlarının destana bir yansıması olduğu görülmüştür.

Abstract

Folklore is considered as a new branch of science. However, previously, the subjects that folklore dealt with were studied in many different branches of science. Folklore has attained a much wider field of study, especially with Alan Dundes redefining the public. The width of the study area and the diversity of its subjects made it necessary to work with different disciplines. Folklore draws on the data of many disciplines, from sociology to anthropology, from philosophy to ethnology, according to the subject and purpose discussed. In this study, epics, which are among the most emphasized genres of folklore, are discussed. Epic heroes were tried to be evaluated through a sociological definition. Max Weber is one of the important sociologists who have grown recently. Authority types’ definitions by Weber contain important determinations. In our study, the heroes of Epic over Weber’s authority types were examined. Oğuz Kağan is at the center of the evaluations. The type of authority owned by epic heroes and the status of this authority in the old Turkish administrative system were evaluated. No literary product is detached from the history, thought and belief systems of the society in which it originated. Each product reflects the characteristics of the society in which it was created and kept alive. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the heroes of the Turkish epics were a reflection of the rulers of the “kut” who had the “traditionalcharismatic” qualities of the old Turkish society.
