Esenler’de Şehirsel Yenileme

Özet

1950’lere kadar kırsal yaşamın ve mimari tarzının birçok yönüyle hakim olduğu Esenler, özellikle bu tarihten sonra İstanbul sur dışında sanayi tesislerin çoğalmasıyla birlikte yoğun göçlere sahne olmuştur. Bu göçler, bölgedeki kır yaşamını ortadan kaldırdığı gibi Esenler’in coğrafi görünümünü de tamamen değiştirmiştir. Esenler’deki şehirsel gelişme ve mekansal değişim de, sınırlı bir coğrafi mekân içerisinde çeşitli dinamiklerin etkisiyle kesintisiz bir şekilde meydana gelmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, belirli bazı politik ve ekonomik kararların etkisiyle Esenler’de meydana gelen mekansal gelişme ve büyüme sorunlarına bir çözüm olarak görülen şehirsel yenileme uygulamalarını coğrafi bir bakış açısıyla incelemektir. Çalışmada, Esenler’de yerleşmenin tarihsel ve mekânsal gelişiminin neden olduğu şehirsel sorunlar ve bu sorunlara bir çözüm olarak görülen şehirsel yenileme uygulamaları, konu bütünlüğü içerisinde birlikte değerlendirilecektir.

Abstract

Until the 1950s, Esenler, wherein rural life and architectural style were dominated by many aspects, has witnessed intensive migrations with the proliferation of industrial facilities other than Istanbul city walls. These migrations have completely obliterated the rural life as well as the geographical aspect of Esenler. The urban development and spatial changes in Esenler has taken place continuously under the influence of various dynamics within a limited geographical area. This study aims to geographically examine the application of urban renewal, which is seen as a solution to the problems of spatial development and growth that occurred in Esenler under the influence of certain political and economic decisions. In the study, the urban problems caused by the historical and spatial development of the settlement in Esenler and the urban renewal practices seen as a solution to these problems will be evaluated together.
