Mimar Sinan Camilerinde Sembolizm Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Özet

Sinan camilerinin sembolik özellikleri üzerine yeterince çalışılmadığı dikkatiçekmektedir. Yapılan çalışmaların çoğunda da, mimarbaşının üslubundaki evrim ve plan tiplerinin sınıflandırılmasına öncelik verilmiştir. Oysaki Osmanlı camileriiçinde çok önemli bir yere sahip olan Sinan camilerinin nasıl ve neden inşa edildiklerinide anlamaya çalışmak gerekir. Çünkü Sinan tasarladığı camilerine diğeryapı türlerine göre daha fazla önem vererek, bunlara yoğun simgesel ve kozmolojikanlamlar yüklemiştir. Ayrıca İslam yapılarının en görünür ve en önemli yapısı olancamiler toplumsal, siyasal, dinsel, ekonomik ve kozmolojik özelliklerin birlikteyer aldığı Osmanlı kültürünün bütünselliği içinde anlam bulmaktadır.Bu çalışmada, Sinan dönemi Osmanlı mimarisinin en anıtsal ibadet yapısı olancamilerinin yaratılmasındaki düşünsel arka plan ile cami mimarisini şekillendirensembolik unsurların kökenleri ve gelişimleri örnekler üzerinde incelenmiştir.Camilerindeki sembolik uygulamalar “Kuruluş ve Tesis Ediliş”, “Malzeme veTeknik”, “Plan Şeması”, “Örtü Sistemi”, “İç Mekân Unsurları”, “Mimari Plastik”ve “Kutsal Emanetler” ana başlıkları altında incelenerek özellikleri bakımındansimgesel ve kozmolojik anlamları ile değerlendirilmiştir.Çalışmanın sonunda anlaşılmıştır ki; Sinan camileri sadece işlev ve biçim ilişkisiçerçevesinde tanımlanamaz. Çünkü salt işlev ve biçim Sinan’ın mimarisini tanımlamakiçin tek başına yeterli olmayacaktır. Tasarım kodlarının arkasında ihtiyaca yönelik standart mimari kalıpları aşan dini, kültürel ve siyasi pek çok sembolik unsur bulunduğu anlaşılmaktadır.

Abstract

It is noteworthy that the symbolic features of the Sinan mosques have not beenstudied sufficiently. In most of the studies, priority has been given to the classificationof plan types and evolution in style of the chief architect. However, it isnecessary to try to understand how and why the Sinan mosques, which have a veryimportant place in Ottoman mosques, were constructed. Since Sinan placed moreemphasis on his mosques than other building types, he attributed them with intensesymbolic and cosmological meanings. In addition, the mosques, as most visibleand most important of the Islamic structures, find meaning within the totality ofOttoman culture along political, religious, economic, and cosmological properties.In this study, the intellectual background in the creation of the mosques whichare the monumental religious structure of the Sinan period Ottoman architecture andthe origins and developments of the symbolic elements that shaped the mosque architecturewere examined on examples. Symbolic practices in his mosques examinedunder main titles of “Institution and Establishment”, “Materials and Techniques”,“Plan Scheme”, “Cover System”, “Interior Components”, “Architectural Plastic”and “Holy Relics” and evaluated with their symbolic and cosmological meanings.It is understood at the end of the study that Sinan’s mosques can not be definedonly within the framework of function and form relationships, as the pure functionand form will not be enough to describe Sinan’s architecture alone. Behind thedesign codes it is understood that there are many religious, cultural and politicalsymbolic elements beyond the standard architectural patterns required.
