Uterine rupture after induction of labor with misoprostol at a patient with prior cesarean: A case report

Özet

İkinci trimestirde skarlı uteruslarda, misoprostol kullanımı sırasında gelişen uterus rüptürü insidensi bilinmemektedir. Bu olgu vesilesiyle sezaryan ile doğum yapmış hastalarda misoprostol ile doğum indüksiyonu sonrası uterus rüptürü gelişebileceğini vurgulamak istedik. Anomalili fetus saptanan sezaryan ile doğum yapmış hastada servikal olgunluğu sağlamak için iki gün misoprostol 200 µg (Cytotec, Ali Raif, Istanbul) uygulandı. Hastada misoprostol uygulanan ikinci günde uterus rüptürü gelişmesi üzerine acil laparotomi yapıldı. Bu komplikasyondan sakınmak için daha titiz protokollerin geliştirilip uygulanması sonucuna varıldı.

Abstract

The incidence of uterine rupture is unknown when misoprostol is used at a patient with a scarred uterus in the second trimester. We emphasized that uterine rupture could occur at patients with prior cesarean section after induction of labor with misoprostol. After the prenatal diagnosis of anomaly of the fetus at a patient with prior cesarean section, misoprostol 200 µg (Cytotec, Ali Raif, Istanbul) was applied for two days to achieve cervical ripening. The patient underwent emergent laparotomy for uterine rupture on the second day of the application of misoprostol. Therefore a strict protocol should be established and followed to avoid this complication.
