Abstract
OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to define whether there is any correlation between body mass index (BMI) and endometrial thickness of postmenopausal cases. STUDY DESIGN: 474 postmenopausal patients who had undergone natural menopause at least 6 months previously were evaluated by transvaginal ultrasonography (TVU) before starting a hormon replacement therapy. Postmenopausal patients have been categorised according to their body mass index as >25 group 1=125 cases) BMI between 25-30 (group 2=112 cases) or >30 (group 3=237 cases). RESULTS: Three groups have been compared for endometrial thickness which have been measured with TVU. No statistical difference was observed between there three groups (3.70±0.29 mm, 3.38+0.05 mm and 3.65+0.51 mm respectively; p>0.05) Student's t tests were used for statistical analysis.
