Abstract

We presented a patient who had hydatid cyst in liver and uterus. There was no physical findings except pain in gynecologic examination. On ultrasonography, there were cysts both in fundus of the uterus and in the right lobe of the liver. At the laparotomy, the uterus was found to be 12-14 weeks' in gestational size. We performed total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingooopherectomy. Hepatic hydatid cyst was treated by partial cystectomy and external drainage. Albendazole (10 mg/kg/day) was given to the patient for three weeks postoperatively. We suggest that surgeons and gynecologists should consider possibility of a hydatid cyst and carefully explore the abdominal cavity when there are septated cystic mass in the abdominal cavity and in the pelvis. Also, albendazole should be started postoperatively.
