İntestinal type adenocarcinoma in a benign cystic teratoma of the ovary: A case report

Özet
Överde benign kistik teratom içerisinde intestinal tipte adenokarsinom saptanan bir olgu sunumudur. Kırkaltı yaşında anormal uterin kanama şikayeti ile kliniğimize başvuran hastanın yapılan pelvik muayenesinde adneksiyal kitle tespit edildi. Laparotomide sol överden köken alan adneksiyal kitle saptandı. Total abdominal histerektomi ve bilateral salfingooferektomi yapıldı. Patoloji spesmeninin incelenmesi sonucunda sol överdeki kitlenin intestinal tipte adanokarsinom komponentleri içeren benign kistik teratom olduğu saptandı. Kökeni her ne olursa olsun, matür kistik teratom içerisinde müsinöz adenokarsinom saptanılması nadir görülen bir durumdur. Literatürde, prognozu iyi yönde bildirilen tek bir vaka haricinde genel kanı hastalığın progresyonunun hızlı olduğu şeklindedir. Bu sebeple hastaların çok yakın takip edilmesi gereklidir.
Abstract
Presentation of a rare case, intestinal type adenocarcinoma in a benign cystic teratoma in ovary. A 46 year-old-women who admitted to our clinic with complaining of vaginal bleeding had an adnexial mass on physical examination. Size of mass was 10 cm. on pelvic ultrasonography. No pathology was found on GIS series. At laparotomy a large left ovarian tumor was detected. Total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salphingoopherectomy was performed. Histologic diagnosis was "intestinal type mucinous adenocarcinoma in benign cystic teratoma". Whatever the tissue of origin, mucinous adenocarcinoma developed in the mature cystic teratoma is still a rare condition. Since prognosis of such cases have been reported to be poor except one case in the literature, patient must be followed very closely. (Gynecol Obstet Reprod Med 2000; 6:158-159)
