Peripheral blood lymphocyte subpopulations (CD4+, CD8+, CD4+ / CD8+) of postmenopausal women with hormone replacement therapy

Bu çalışma, hormon replasman tedavisi (HRT) alan sağlıklı postmenapozal hastaların T sitotoksik (CD8+), T helper (CD4+) ve immün regülatuar index (CD4+/CD8+) oranlarını saptamak için planlandı. HRT'nin sellüler immünite üzerine olan etkisi flow sitometrik yöntem kullanılarak araştırıldı. HRT alan 15 postmenapozal hasta ve HRT almayan 7 hasta çalışmaya dahil edildi. HRT alan grup ile kontrol grubu arasında CD8+, CD4+ ve CD4+/CD8+ oranlarını açısından anlamlı bir farklılık bulunamadı. Menapoz kadınlarda immün cevapta azalmaya yolaçar. HRT ile immün cevabın korunması veya devamı arasında kesin bir ilişki bulunmamakla birlikte, bozulmuş immün fonksiyonların bir kısmı HRT sonrası düzelebilir.
Abstract
OBJECTIVE: A large clinical literature suggests that estradiol (E(2)) plays a critical role in immune function. To further explore the relationship between E(2) and immune function, we examined a variety of immunological parameters and evaluated the effect of hormone replacement therapy on the cytotoxic T-cells (CD8+) and T-helper (CD4+) subsets of T-lymphocytes in 22 immunologically healthy postmenopausal women. STUDY DESIGN: The effect of hormone replacement therapy on cellular immunity of postmenopausal women was studied by flow cytometry (FACS). Lymphocyte subsets (CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ ratio) in peripheral blood were measured. Participants included 15 post-menopausal women taking HRT at least for one year or more and 7 post-menopausal women not receiving HRT at least for one year or more. RESULTS: CD4+ and CD8+ lelevs were similar between two groups. Compared to the (-)HRT group, the (+)HRT group had not more immunoregulatory index (CD4+/CD8+). CONCLUSION: Our findings suggesting that preservation or improvement of immune function may not be associated with the use of HRT.
