A 24 weeks old fetus with true knot of the umbilical cord

Özet

Prenatal dönemde ultrasonografik olarak, düğüm oluşumu ve göbek kordonu torsiyonu gibi umbilikal kord anomalileri ender olarak görülmektedir. O nedenle bu çalışmada sezeryen ile ölü olarak doğurtulan 24 haftalık fetusta, literatür ışığı altında göbek kordonunda gerçek düğüm olgusu incelenmiştir. Dişi fetus, 78 cm (55-60 cm) olan uzun bir göbek kordonuna sahip idi. Doğum sonrasında kordonda bir gerçek düğüm gözlenmiş olup, bu düğümün fetal dönemde oluştuğu ve asfiksi nedeniyle ölüme yol açtığı düşünülmektedir. Ayrıca, ilginç olarak, 34 yaşındaki annenin 3 büyük miyomu ve multipl ilk trimestre düşüklerinin olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Abstract

Umbilical cord abnormalities such as knot formation and umbilical cord torsion have been rarely observed in the prenatal period with ultrasonography. For that reason, we prompted out to elucidate the true knot umbilical cord subject with a 24 weeks' old stillborn fetus induced by cesarean section in the view of the literature by the present study. She had a long umbilical cord of 78 cm (55-60 cm). A knot in the umbilical cord was observed after the delivery which was thought to be formed during the fetal life and had led to the death of the fetus because of asphyxia. Interestingly, 34 years old mother of the fetus also had three large myoma uteri and multiple abortions in the first trimester.
