Abstract

During the treatment of upper respiratory tract infection, otitis media and gastroenteritis, upper gastrointestinal bleeding developed in two cases. Clinical and laboratory investigation disclosed that there was pancreatic penetration secondary to peptic ulcération in one and pyloric stenosis in the other patient. There was no gastrointestinal complaint or haemorrhagic disorder before hospitalisation. Patients had not taken any salycylate or nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug. The blood type of both patients was "Q", their serum gastrin level was normal and the "Clo" test was negative. Both patients had a positive family history for peptic ulcus. They were operated on because of resistance to medical treatment.
