Abstract
Inflammation theories play significant role in the pro— cess of development and progression of many cancers. With this study our aim was to compare abnormal cervical pathology and inflammatory markers which are obtained from peripheric blood samples, such as neutrophil-tolymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR). This current study was designed retrospectively and totally 146 patients conducted to the study, seventy four of them were abnormal cervical cytology and 72 of them were normal cervical cytology. The most common type of abnormal cervical cytology was ASC-US (Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance). NLR and PLR levels were higher in study group than control group (p<0.005). The cut-off value for NLR and PLR were calculated as 1.98 and 126.58 respectively. NLR and PLR values may be used as novel marker that is easily administered in patients with abnormal cervical cytology and obtained with Iowcost tests.
