Abstract

Turkey has hosted many civilizations throughout history. Therefore, many concrete cultural heritage of various civilizations that lived on these lands still exist. These cultural heritages are exposed to destruction over time due to natural or unnatural reasons. The most important step to be taken in order to protect these works as desired is the documentation of the works. Technology must be used to complete documentation works quickly and reliably. This study includes the documentation of the excavation work carried out in the Yunuslar neighborhood of Konya. In the excavation area, there are floor mosaic and other archaeological details with a history of about 1400 years. For the documentation of the archaeological site, the data obtained from the terrestrial laser scanner, digital hand camera and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) were used. At the end of the study, a documentation study was carried out using the dense point data of the excavation site. Accuracy comparison of different data collection techniques used from the documentation result was made. As a result of the study, the coordinate values of 18 points determined on the excavation area were calculated separately from all three software. A 3.65 cm position error was determined in the “Scene” software where the laser scanning data was processed. In the “Photomodeler UAS” and “Agisoft PhotoScan” software, 4.64 and 4.02 cm position error was detected, respectively. Although laser scanning technology is a new technology, it provides superiority over other methods in terms of location accuracy. When it is considered in terms of cost, terrestrial photogrammetry and UAV photogrammetry are completed at a lower cost compared to laser scanning method and the data processing phase is completed in a shorter time.
