II. Abdülhamid döneminde başlayan bu serüven I. Dünya Savaşı sonrasına kadar uzanmaktadır.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the production, consumption and trade of alcoholic beverages in the provincial city of Kastamonu. Within this framework, the problems associated with the trade of alcoholic beverages and the responses of central government and governors to these problems will be analysed with reference to the application of Regulation on Alcoholic Beverages. Thus, it will be possible to trace the continuity and change in the practices of local politics by taking into consideration their “consistency” in time based on the experiences of Merika Petropulo, who was a Greek Merchant dealing with trade in alcoholic beverages in Kastamonu. This adventure starts during the reign of Abdulhamid II and continues into the aftermath of World War I.
