Abstract
Within the project of establishment of the National Gravity Network of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), gravity value was transferred by airway to a selected benchmark at the Ercan airport in TRNC with respect to the three Turkish National Gravity Network points (ANKARA, KONYA, GÜVERCİNLİK), two of which are absolute gravity points as well. Two G-model La Coste & Romberg gravity meters (G-347 ve G-379) were used for relative gravity observations. The benchmark at Ercan airport was selected as starting point (datum) for establishment of TRNC National Gravity Network (NGNT), consisting eight gravity points. Regional gravity measurements were carried out at homogenously distributed 105 horizontal control network points, based on NGNT. During the process of the relative gravity measurements, at the first step, readings were converted into gravity values by using the constant tables, which were provided for each gravity meter by the manufacturer, and gravity values were corrected due to tide correction. At the second step, gravity values were corrected due to drift effect (the change in gravitymeters caused by time). At last, the measurements, which were corrected for tide and drift effects, were adjusted. Measurements (the gravity differences on the measured bases), unknown parameters (gravity values of the benchmarks and scale parameter for each gravity meter) and known parameters that were used to determine the datum of the network (gravity values of the ANKARA and KONYA benchmarks, fixed and errorless) are the main components of the adjustment. The standart deviations of the point gravity values after adjustment, vary between ±0.01 mGal and ±0.05 mGal.
