The Conception of “Tajdeet against Reform” or “Innovation without Alteration” at M. Hamdi Yazır

Özet

Tecdit ve reform, Tanzimat sonrası yoğun bir şekilde tartışılan terimlerdendir. Sözlük anlamları aynı olmasına rağmen, başlarından geçen tarihsel serüven ve kavramsal içerik bakımından birbirinden farklıdırlar. Tecdit asla dönüşü ifade ederken, reform aslı dönüştürmeye karşılık gelmektedir.Bu dönemde Osmanlı’nın askeri, siyasi ve ekonomik yönden çöküşü, toplumun her kesiminde teceddüt (yenileşme) taleplerini gündeme getirmiştir. Büyük İslam âlimi M. Hamdi Yazır makalelerinde, yapılacak yeniliklerin reform değil, tecdit şeklinde olması gerektiğini belirtmiştir. Toplumun değerlerini yıkan radikal değişimin yozlaşmaya ve kimlik bunalımına yol açacağını söylemiş; başkalaşmadan yenileşme fikrini savunmuştur.

Abstract

The words of tajdeet and reform intensively were discussed after the Tanzeemat of the Ottoman state. Spite of the dictionary meanings are the same, these words are different in terms of historical adventure and conceptual content. While the tajdeet expression the return to original, the reform means changing of this original. Military, political and economic collapse of the Ottoman state during this period has revealed innovation demands in all sections of society. According to the great Islamic scholar M. Hamdi Yazır the innovations must be in the form of tajdeet not reform. He said that the change which destroys values of the society leads to degeneration and identity crisis. And he argued in his articles the idea of innovation without alteration.
