Özet: Vezir-i azam Mahmud Paşa, vakfına gelir elde edebilmek için Ankara 'da büyük bir bedesten yaptırmıştır. Bedestenler, Osmanlı şehirciliğinin önemli yapılarından biri olduğundan, çevresindeki hanlar ve çarşılarla birlikte kentlerin hem ticari, hem de fiziki gelişimine etki etmişlerdir. Ankara şehrinin ticarî kesimini şekillendiren mekanlar bedesten, At Pazarı ve Uzun Çarşı 'dır. Bunlar içerisinde yönlendirici etkiye sahip olanı bedestendir. Bedestenin At Pazarı ve Uzun Çarşı ile bağlantısı vardır. Nitekim, bedesten kapılarından başlayan sokakların At Pazarı ve Uzun Çarşı 'ya doğru gitmesi, Ankara 'da bedesten merkezli bir ticari yapılaşmanın planlandığını ortaya koymaktadır. Sonuç olarak, Ankara çarşısında ortaya çıkan bedesten merkezli yerleşim planı, kentin mekansal gelişimini de etkilemiştir.

Abstract

Abstract: A big covered bazaar was constructed in Ankara on the Grand Vizier Mahmud Pasha's for the purpose of obtaining revenue for his foundation. As covered bazaars are among the prominent buildings of the Ottoman town planning, along with caravanserais and marketplaces that surround them, they have always become influential both in commercial and physical development of cities. These places that shape commercial sector of Ankara city are covered bedesten (bazaar), At Pazarı (Horse Bazaar) and Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar). Among them, the covered bazaar are the ones that have a directing effect. The covered bazaar is connected to At Pazarı (Horse Bazaar) and Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar). Thus, the fact that the roads that start from the covered bedesten 's doors and continue through the At Pazarı (Horse Bazaar) and Uzun Çarşı (Long Bazaar) point to a planning that aims for a bedes ten-centered commercial structuring in Ankara. As a result, the a bedesten-centered settlement plan that has appeared in Ankara has affected the spatial development of the city as well.
