Abstract

Image classification is one of the methods used for land use/cover detection. It is possible to make different analysis with different mathematical algorithms accordance with the goals and data. Fuzzy classification method used in this study is one of the commonly used method that allows more than one class of membership in different areas such as structural areas that have complex structure. In this study, we identified a number of band ratios for the Landsat image and fuzzy logic classification is made for the 9 land cover classes. Classification results evaluated in 300 different locations which distributed stratified random (at least 10 points for each class). At the end, the overall accuracy of 56% (kappa 0.49) was determined. Due to the characteristics of study area, some problems were detected for deciduous forest but water area, planted cropland and coniferous forest classes could be detected with high accuracy.
