Abstract
This study was conducted to determine the effect of seed extraction methods (dry and with water), drying methods (in the sun and shadow) and traditional method (seed extraction with machine and drying in the sun) on seed quality in pepper (hot pepper Ilıca-256; conic red pepper Yalova yağlık-28). Although seed extraction with water by hand and drying in the shadow attained maximum germination (93.50% hot pepper; 97.25% conic red pepper), dry seed extraction and drying in the sun led to decrease in germination (77% hot pepper; 84% conic red pepper). The suitable extraction and drying method for seed quality that seed extraction with water and drying in the shadow compared with traditional method. There were no significant differences in seed yield between these two methods but seed extraction with water and drying in the shadow provided maximum seed germination and vigour.
