Sudden hearing loss (SHL) is a sensorineural hearingloss (SNHL) occuring within last three days and atleast in three consecutive frequencies worse than 30dB. Hematological pathologies rarely takes place inetiology. In this case report, we present a patient whoadmitted to our Otolaryngology Department twice intwo months with the complaint of sudden hearing lossin the right ear. In both times SHL has been diagnosedand the patient has been given medical treatment.Despite further investigation, there was no clue for theunderlying diagnosis at the first time. At the secondapplication of the patient, acute myeloid leukemia(AML) has been identified. We aimed to present firstcase in English literature: sudden hearing loss as a firstsign of AML. For the management of recurrent SHL,hematological pathologies should be kept in mind andbiochemical examination must be repeated for eachapplication of patients.
