Abstract

In this study, irrigation modules calculated in the planning phase and the operational phase of the irrigation schemes are examined and evaluated. Extent of the overlapping between the irrigation planning module and the actual module realized during the operational phase of the system depends on changes in the cropping patterns, differences in the effects of farm irrigation on the capacity of the constructed system, the increases or decreases in the demand for water, as well as the extent of sustainability according to the selected operation method. All of these provide the system with feedback, which then has an important contribution to irrigation planning. The study area is selected as A2 Irrigation Scheme Area, which is located in the Büyük Menderes basin with an area of 2500 ha. Irrigation planning modules calculated for this area is q = 1,16 l/s/ha and scheme has been designed to the demand operation method. For the study; actual irrigation module has been compared with the planning irrigation module by using Excel software and taking parameters such as actual crop pattern and percentage distributions, actually irrigated areas, water distribution and irrigation schedules made according to the demand method, water intake of irrigation schemes which have been calculated without losses, as well as with 5%, 10%, and 15% losses. The irrigation module calculated for July compared to actual plant design in the irrigation areas is studied between the years of 1999-2014 giving a value between 1,01 to 1,15 l/s/ha, whereas the module calculated with no operational losses comes out between 1,07 to 1,23 l/s/ha. In addition, the module calculated according to water intake with 5% losses was found to be in the interval of 1,02 to 1,19 l/s/ha, while the module with 10% of loss was in the range of 0,97 to 1,10. The July irrigation modules calculated for the irrigation area studied generally conforms to the planning module, as it has received values close to or below the value of irrigation planning modules.
