Özet

Coğrafya dersi Osmanlı döneminden itibaren çeşitli düzeylerdeki okullarda farklı yoğunluklardaki içeriklerle öğretim programları içerisindeki yerini almıştır. Ancak coğrafya dersinin Türk eğitim tarihinde önemli bir yer edinen Köy Enstitülerinde öğretilme şekli üzerinde çok fazla durulmamış, daha yüzeysel çalışmalar ortaya çıkarılmıştır. Bu nedenle yapmış olduğumuz bu çalışmada, coğrafya dersinin döneminde oldukça geniş bir yankı uyandıran ve köylere öğretmen yetiştirmek amacıyla eğitim-öğretim faaliyetlerini yürüten Köy Enstitülerinde nasıl ve hangi yoğunlukta verildiği incelenmiştir. Çalışmada 1943, 1947 ve 1953 öğretim programları ile bu kurumlarda okutulan ders kitapları üzerinden değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur. Çalışmada elde edilen verilerin desteklenmesi amacıyla yalnızca ilgili literatür taranmamış aynı zamanda Köy Enstitülerinde öğrenim görmüş kişilerle de görüşmeler yapılarak veriler zenginleştirilmiştir. Yapılan bu çalışma ile Köy Enstitülerinde coğrafya dersinin oldukça etkili, yaparak yaşayarak öğrenme ilkelerine uygun ve özellikle öğrencilere gözlem becerisi kazandırma düşüncesinden hareketle şekillendirildiği sonucuna varılmıştır

Abstract

The geography course has taken place with varying concentrations of content within the curriculum in schools at various levels. The way of teaching in the Village Institute, which has taken an important place in the history of Turkish education of geography lesson, is not much emphasized. The studies were more superficial. In this study, which we have done for this reason, we examined how and to what extent the geography course is given in the Village Institutes conducting education and training activities in order to train a teacher to villages. In the study 1943, 1947 and 1953 curriculums and the textbooks taught in these institutions were evaluated. In order to support the obtained data, not only the relevant literature was searched but also the people who had studied at the Village Institute were interviewed and the data were enriched. With this study, it has been concluded that the geography lesson in the Village Institute was shaped by acting in accordance with the principles of learning by making and living, especially giving the students the ability of observation
