Özet

Bodrum İtalyanlar tarafından 11 Mayıs 1919 tarihinde işgale uğradı. Hem Anadolu’nun hem de Bodrum’un işgali Bodrum halkının düzenlediği mitingler ve İtilaf Devletleri temsilcilerine gönderilen telgraflarla protesto edilmiştir. Bölgedeki yerel kongrelere destek sağlayan Bodrum halkının çabaları, yerel önderlerin gayretleriyle Menteşe Sancağı’nın Milli Mücadele’de Kuva-yı Milliye’nin ikmal, iaşe, lojistik katkısını artıran büyüten önemli bir etken olmuştur. Bodrum aynı zamanda Milli Mücadele yıllarında İtalyan nüfuzunda, hükümet otoritesinin olmadığı, uzun sahile, ormanlara ve geniş coğrafyaya sahip bir bölge olduğu için çete ve eşkıyalığın en sık görüldüğü merkezlerden biridir. Batı Anadolu Kuva-yı Milliye’sinin komutanlarından Yörük Ali Efe’nin Güneybatı Anadolu Umum Kuva-yı Milliye Kumandanı olarak bölgeye gelişi ile hem eşkıyalık olaylarının dizginlenmesi hemde Kuva-yı Millliye’nin düzeni sağlanmıştır.

Abstract

Bodrum was occupied by Italians in 11 May 1919. Occupation of Bodrum and occupation of Anatolia both were protested with the demonstrations held by people of Bodrum and with the tellegraphs that was sent to the representatives of Allied states. Efforts of the people of Bodrum who supported local congresses around their region and endeavors of the local leaders became important factors that increased and boosted the supply, subsistence and logistic contribution of the Sanjak of Menteşe to the National Forces during the War of Independence. Also during the war Bodrum was among the centers that guerrilla and brigandage activities were encountered frequently because of being under the Italian influence, destitute of government authority, having a long coastline, forests and a vast geography.By the arrival of Yörük Ali Efe, one of the commanders of the National Forces of Western Anatolia, as the General Commander of National Forces of Southwestern Anatolia, restrained te brigandage and brought order to the National Forces.
