Özet

Cari işlemler açığı son yıllarda Türkiyede çok sık tartışılan problemlerden biri haline gelmiştir. Cari işlemler açığını azaltabilmek için ilk olarak onu etkileyen değişkenlerin belirlenmesi gerekmektedir. Bundan dolayı, çalışmamızın amacı Türkiyede meydana gelmiş olan cari işlemler açığının nedenlerini belirlemektir. Bu bağlamda, söz konusu çalışmada cari açığa etki edebileceği düşünülen 15 adet değişkenin Türkiyedeki cari işlemler açığı üzerindeki etkisi incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla MARS yöntemi uygulanmış ve değişkenlerin 1994 2014 yılları arasındaki 3 aylık verileri kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, bir önceki döneme ait cari işlemler açığı, büyüme oranındaki artış ve faiz oranlarındaki azalışın Türkiyedeki cari işlemler açığının en önemli belirleyicileri olduğu tespit edilmiştir

Abstract

Current account deficit became one of the main problems of Turkey especially for last years. So as to decrease current account deficit, firstly the determinants of it should be identified. Therefore, the aim of this study is to define the leading variables of current account deficit in Turkey. Within this scope, the effect of 15 different independent variables on current account deficit in Turkey was analyzed in this study. In order to achieve this objective, quarterly data for the period between 1994 and 2014 was tested with MARS method. It was concluded that current account deficit of the previous period, increasing in growth rate and decrease in interest rates were the indicators of current account deficit in Turkey
