Özet

Akademik bir yazım tarzının dışında sade ve anlaşılabilir bir tarzda yazılmış tarihi metinler aracılığı ile halk arasında tarihi konulara merak uyandırmak ve milli duyguları beslemek amacıyla yayınlanan Cumhuriyet döneminin uzun süreli ilk popüler tarih dergisi olan Resimli Tarih Mecmuası’nın incelenmesi çalışmanın ana konusu olacaktır. Derginin içerdiği konular dönemin siyasi, toplumsal ve ekonomik yapısı ile de karşılaştırılarak döneme ışık tutulmaya çalışılacaktır. Bunun için dönemin siyasi yapısını analiz eden ikincil kaynaklar ile çalışma desteklenecektir. Ayrıca 1950’li yıllar popüler tarih dergiciliğinin de Türkiye’de geliştiği bir süreç olmuştur. Bu durumun analizini yapabilmek için Türk basın tarihine kısaca yer verilerek bunların arasında tarih dergilerinin yeri ve önemi değerlendirilecektir. Okuyucuya derginin içeriği hakkında fikir vermesi ve bundan sonraki çalışmalara kaynak oluşturabilmesi için Resimli Tarih Mecmuasının ilk on sayısının fihristi hazırlanarak ekler bölümünde sunulmuştur.

Abstract

The examination of Resimli Tarih Mecmuası (The Illustrated History Magazine), which was the first long-lasting popular historical magazine of the Republic era and published to foster national sentiments along with arousing interest among people through the historical texts written in a simple and comprehensible style apart from an academic writing style, will constitute the main subject of the study. Besides, the study aims to shed light on the political, social and economic structures through comparing them with the subjects that the magazine contains. Therefore, the study will be supported by the secondary sources, analyzing the political structure of the period. Moreover, 1950s have been also a process when popular historical journal publishing has developed in Turkey. In order to analyze this situation, the study will briefly mention the history of Turkish press and evaluate the place and importance of historical journals among them. In order to give the reader an idea about the content of the journal and to be able to constitute resources for the studies in the future, the index of the first ten issues of the illustrated History Magazine was prepared and presented in the appendix.
