Abstract

P.aeruginosa is one of the most common etiologic agents in hospital infections. Both the natural resistance and the ability of bacteria to develop antibiotic resistance cause difficulties in the treatment of infectious diseases.Between January 2016 and January 2017, 278 P.aeruginosa strains isolated from the lower respiratory tract samples sent to Cerrahpaşa Medical Faculty Medical Microbiology Laboratory were taken in to study. Identification was done by manual methods and automated system.Of the 278 P.aeruginosa isolates studied, susceptibility rates were as follows: colistin 98 %, piperacillin-tazobactam 76 %, meropenem 75 %, ciprofloxacin and amikasin 71 %, imipenem 70 %, cefepime 68 %, levofloxacin and ceftazidime 66 %, gentamicin 60 %, and netilmicin 53 %. Determining the resistance profile in hospitals may contribute to the selection of the correct empirical treatment and may prevent the development of resistance caused by inappropriate treatment
