Abstract

In this study, two extreme populations of the species Delphinium cilicicum endemic to Turkey were discovered from Kıbrıs Valley (Kaş, Antalya) with the present study. The collected specimens from these locations were investigated in detail by morphologically and the description of the species was expanded. Additionally, the seeds of the species were examined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and it was aimed to contribute to the literature. The data obtained from the SEM studies showed that the seeds of this species have different micro-morphology from the other Delphinium taxa. Besides, the similarities and the differences between D. cilicicum and its close relative D. petrodavisianum were discussed. The results from both herbarium studies and morphological studies show that the detailed further studies are needed to clarify the taxonomical position of D. petrodavisianum.
