Özet
Köy enstitüleri, Türk Eğitim Tarihi içerisinde önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Cumhuriyet'in ilanıyla birlikte başlatılan eğitim seferberliği çerçevesinde köye öğretmen yetiştirme işlevini köy enstitüleri üstlenmiştir.
Abstract
Village institutes have an important place in History of Turkish Education. Within the framework of the educational campaign initiated with the proclamation of the Republic, village institutes undertook the function of training teachers. The preliminary preparations for the establishment of these institutes was started in 1935 and the Village Institutes were opened by a law enacted on April 17, 1940 and started education. Village institutes played an active role in solving the problems of education and development in rural areas. Through the teachers assigned in the village, practical knowledge based on production was also given in addition to theoretical knowledge in education. Village institutes have initiated a movement aimed at benefiting people from science, through the teachers they train. This movement has proved that education can be delivered to all segments of society. Village institutes have achieved success far above the aims of the establishment, and ensured a generation that presents the problems of rural people. With a law enacted on 27 January 1954, the activities of the village institutes were terminated and the name of the institutes was changed to Primary Teacher School.
