Araştırmada Ki-kare ve McNemar istatistiksel testleri kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Araştırmaya katılan çocukların yaş ortalaması 9.7 ±2.02'dir. Katılımcıların %56,7'si erkek; 43,3'ü kız çocuklardan oluşmuştur Çocukların eğitim öncesi ve sonrasında el yıkama kontrol listesinde bulunan 10 basamağın 9 unda olumlu yönde artış saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Abstract
BACKGROUND: In this intervention study which competency based training approach was used, it was aimed to determine behaviors of 6-14 years of age children about hand hygiene and to change their hand-washing skills in the "positive" way after the training. METHODS: Ninety children participated in the study (participation rate= %88.2). A standard checklist was used for both training and evaluation of the behaviors. The data were processed and statistically analyzed with the SPSS for Windows 15.0 software. Me Nemar and chi square tests were used for analysis of the data. RESULTS: Mean age of the children was found to be 9.76+2.02. Fifty six point seven percent of the participants were females and 43.3% of them were males. Nine out of ten steps of the "hand washing check-list" was found higher in percentage among participants in the post-training evaluation compared to the pre-training assessment (p<0.05). CONCLUSION: Hand washing training is recommended for the children at younger ages especially in the settlements where communities live.
