Abstract
AIM: The aim of this study is to determine the knowledge level of high school students on Hepatitis B (HB). METHOD: This descriptive research was realized in 05 May to 29 June 2011 to students in total of 8 high schools in the Sivrihisar district center of Eskisehir city. Of 782 (65.1%) out of the total of 1202 students who are attending education in those high schools occurred the study group. HB is related to the 40 propositions were subjected to scoring; each correct answer, “1 point” was given to evaluation. Students with a score of 12.5 and above were accepted as “Sufficient of knowledge level on HB”. For analyses of data Student t Test and One-way Analysis of Variance were used. For statistical significant p<0.05 was accepted. RESULTS: Of students were 472 (60.4%) girls. The average age 16.15±1.06 (min: 14, max: 19) years. The average point of knowledge level was 13.78±7.66 (min: 0, max:33). The number of students that are sufficient knowledge level was 445 (56.9%). Girl students, students who are attending education in the Health Professions High School, who have working mother, who have a health worker in his/her family, and who already have knowledge about HB are found to have higher average points on HB (for each one p<0.05). CONCLUSION: In this study area of high schools, it was concluded that education of HB is needed more.
