Abstract
This study examines the concepts of sustainable development and green finance in detail and assesses their applicability in the Azerbaijani context. Sustainable development is addressed in its environmental, economic and social dimensions, and national and international approaches are analyzed in this context. The importance of green finance, its contribution to financing environmentally friendly projects and the impact of these projects on economic growth are discussed. The study examines financial instruments such as green bonds, green loans, green sukuk and green insurance and highlights their contributions to economic development. It recommends steps that Azerbaijan should take within the framework of environmental sustainability, the widespread use of green financial instruments and the strengthening of the regulatory framework. As a result, it is stated that the expansion of green finance projects and sustainable development should be supported by more specific targets.
