Abstract

This study aimed to adapt the Work Mattering Scale (WMS) (Jung & Heppner, 2017) to Turkish culture. The scale aims to measure the social and interpersonal mattering (coworkers/colleagues and supervisors/employers) that individuals perceive in the work context. The participants were 385 working adults (248 female, 137 male). Data were collected through the Work Mattering Scale, Job Satisfaction Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, the Turnover Intention Scale, and a demographic information form. Validity was examined through construct validity and criterion-related validity analyses. Reliability was assessed using stratified Cronbach’s alpha, McDonald’s omega coefficients, and test–retest reliability. Construct validity was examined through Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), which revealed adequate goodness-of-fit indices, confirming the two-factor structure of the scale. The fit indices were as follows: TLI = .92, CFI = .94, RMSEA = .08, and SRMR = .04. Criterion-related validity analyses found that significant positive relationships between the total and subscale scores of the WMS and job satisfaction, life satisfaction, and a negative relationship with turnover intention. Within the scope of reliability analysis, Cronbach's alpha, stratified Cronbach's alpha, and McDonald's omega coefficients were examined, and it was determined that the overall scale and subscales exceeded the .70 threshold. Test-retest reliability calculated at three-week intervals indicated a stable measurement (r = .80, p < .001). The findings demonstrate that the Turkish version of the WMS is a reliable and valid measurement tool.
